AI & web
projects

I build tools for writers, editors, and students, drawing on the work I know firsthand: running an editorial desk, teaching a writing class, and helping people make informed decisions about AI.

Anchorage Press
Freelancer Desk

An editorial workspace built around the daily pressures of a small newsroom: responding to pitches, keeping stories moving, and making sure contributors get paid.

The Freelancer Desk brings assignments, contributors, pitches, and payments into one view.

An editor’s experience built into the tool.

When the Anchorage Press — Alaska’s largest weekly — got a fresh start under new leadership, it needed a way to find, onboard, and grow a crew of freelance reporters, writers, photographers, and illustrators. The publisher and I mapped out how the editorial process should actually run. I brought what I’d learned as a senior editor at a consultancy and as arts editor of the Red Hook Star-Revue, a monthly Brooklyn paper where I wrangled more than 60 freelancers.

Designed for the work between deadlines.

The desk supports budget management, timely payments, pitch responses, and smooth contributor onboarding. It also helps editors think about mentoring opportunities and plan coverage around local, regional, and national holidays and events.

I designed the personalized Freelancer Desk with Adobe Express and Claude Design, built it with Netlify, and used Supabase to manage data and secure file access.

A smoother writing classroom

Lehman classroom form for uploading handwritten work, PDF scans, or typed writing
A QR code takes students directly to the writing intake form.

From a handwritten page to a conversation about writing.

I used QR codes to collect in-class writing with less friction. Students could photograph handwritten pages, upload scans, or type directly into a form.

AI-supported tools could offer immediate spelling and grammar feedback, remind students of the class’s objectives, and prompt them to ask further questions about their work.

I connected Netlify, TinyURL, Claude artifacts, and Brightspace LMS to make these tools part of the classroom experience.

  1. Scan and submit. A short path from the classroom exercise to the student’s work.
  2. Receive focused feedback. Support tied to spelling, grammar, and the goals of the assignment.
  3. Keep asking questions. Prompts that invite students to examine choices and develop their ideas.

Potawatomi Ventures

Helping teams make informed choices about AI.

My workshops and communications connect practical AI use with questions of ethics, history, and responsibility. I help teams consider how AI changes the way they write, collaborate, and exercise judgment.

Sessions include Using AI with Intention and hands-on Copilot training for HR teams, supported by communication about AI-mediated work and responsible adoption.
